Juanita Bantilles
Juanita Bantilles found a business opportunity when her husband, Elden, came home from work with three foam pillows instead of food. Juanita was upset but was able to sell the pillows for a profit to her neighbor. She then learned how to use a sewing machine to make pillowcases for the foam pillows. Eventually, she also created mattress covers of varying sizes. When she discovered VEF (MentorsŐ partner organization in Cebu, Philippines), she received a loan to buy a sewing machine. Since then, she has been able to expand her business and help her son continue his education with the money she has earned.
